Instructions for using the 'geteduroam' app

The "geteduroam" app simplifies the complex setup of eduroam. It is tailored to the institution and can only be used by the users there.

The tool creates customized installers for common PC and smartphone platforms and ensures that users are protected from fraudulent eduroam hotspots that access usernames and passwords.

Remove the eduroam network from the network settings of your mobile device/Windows PC before installation. To do this, select "Forget network/remove network" under eduroam.

Please note that you must be in the signal range of the eduroams network of the University of Kassel to set up the app and that you need another active internet connection (e.g. LTE, other WLAN, hotspot).

Select the appropriate store for the mobile device/Windows PC via the website https://www.geteduroam.app/ and install the software. Alternatively, you can also search for "geteduroam" directly in the app/play store and download the app from there.

After starting the app, you will be asked to select your institution. Search for "Kassel" and then select "Universität Kassel" (If you are not a member of the University of Kassel, or if you want to connect to eduroam as a member of the University of Kassel at another university, always select your physical location here).

You will then be shown the contact details of the IT service desk. Click on "Continue".

In the next step, log in with your UniAccount, e.g. uk012345@uni-kassel.de(not...@student.uni-kassel.de) and your UniAccount password.

Then confirm any messages sent by the operating system such as "Connect automatically?" or "Connect automatically in future?".

The connection to eduroam will then be established automatically.
