Schedule for the Diploma course of studies in Physics

This course of studies is structured in a traditional way. In the basic study period, i.e. in the first 4 semesters, basic knowledge of the whole spectrum of Physics is imparted in order to give you a solid basis for a later specialization and for your professional career. The advanced study period (5th to about 10th semester) allows you to specialize according to your own interests. During this study period, you can for example decide whether to work as an experimental or a theoretical physicist. By special lectures and seminars you will get aquainted with the different research areas at the Institute of Physics. During the diploma thesis period you participate in the work at current research topics for about one year and thereby gain important scientific skills. After the diploma it is possible to continue the scientific work in a PhD study.
